Kabarak University Research Committee announces a call for papers for the 7th Annual International Research Conference to be held on the 5th - 6th October 2017.

Student Innovation Day:

Date: 21st September, 2017
Objective: To educate students on the multidisciplinary nature of innovation. This is in order to broaden the student’s understanding of the concept of innovation to beyond Information and Communication Technologies as is currently the predominant understanding among them.
Target: Students
Topics to be covered: The multidisciplinary nature of innovation, commercialization of innovation, protection of intellectual properties, improving the quality of life through innovations and the Internet of Things.

Internet of Things Workshop

Date: 2nd October, 2017 Objective: To bring together key stakeholders in the housing, regulation and solution provision for an engagement on developments on the need and utilization of solar energy.
Target: Heads of academic institutions such as high schools, primary schools, colleges, polytechnics and universities, hotels, hospitals, residential property owners and industries.
Topics to be covered: Government regulations with respect to commercial and domestic solar hot water heating, available institutional solar solutions. solar power buy back into the national grid and financing for solar installations, Case studies on successful institutional solar utilization, social impact of solar energy.

Solar Energy Exhibition

Date: 2nd– 6th October, 2017 Objective: To expose the participants drawn from the neighboring Kabarak community, institutions such as hotels and schools, residential property owners and industries to available domestic, consumer and institutional solar solutions.
Target: All domestic, consumer and institutional solar products and solution providers, solar energy installers, energy audit companies as well as financial institutions offering finance
for solar installations. Players in the renewable energy sector are also expected to exhibit at the event. Topics to be covered: Domestic, consumer and institutional solar products and solutions.
Key event partners: Domestic, consumer and institutional solar products and solution providers.
Charges: KES 25,000 on pay bill number 983100 for the week and to make arrangements for their tents and other requirements.

Micro Research Workshop

Date: 2nd – 3rd October, 2017
Objective: To introduce the participants to the micro research approach that has at its heart the conduct of research in multidisciplinary teams with a community focus in the identification of research problems, their solution and application of results in the form of policy and practice.
Target: Graduate students and researchers
Topics to be covered: An introduction to the micro research approach, defining research questions, quantitative and qualitative research toolkits, pitfalls in research, micro research proposal writing, formation of multidisciplinary research teams, report writing, oral and poster presentations, ethical issues in research, community engagement, knowledge translation and the translation of research into policy and practice.
Key event partners: Micro Research Canada in conjunction with the department of family medicine at Kabarak University.
